We don't have traditional basements here in the Carolinas, but if I ever find myself back up north where cave-like, scary basements can be the norm, I will make mine decidedly less scary by channeling this image.

I don't think I'd ever consider painting a low ceiling space in all black but the recessed lights, big white sofa and large scale imagery take it from cave to cozy. Love it!
