Weekend To Do's

Yes I know it's only Thursday, but my brain is already very much focused on the weekend where I have lots of nursery to do's to get to. Things are coming along but I still have more 1/2 complete projects in the works than I'd like. But with the dresser finally (almost) done (still need to line all the drawers and do a few touch-ups on the edges), I can now turn my attentions to other things such as:

weekend-to-dos

1. Baby's mattress is scheduled for delivery today. Thankfully this task involves nothing more than dragging it up the stairs and placing it in the crib. But I'm excited because it brings me 1 step closer to having a completed crib setup.

2. My leather Moroccan pouf has been on back order since early May!! But it is finally set to arrive tomorrow afternoon, stuffed and ready to sit at the foot of my glider. Yes, I have been obsessing over this one item for some time.

3. My IKEA Merete curtains have been deconstructed and pinned back together. They have been sitting on my family room ottoman for a good 3 weeks now awaiting my attention. At the very least, this weekend I will sew the 4 panels together into 2 super panels. If I'm feeling particularly ambitious, I may also take the Stitch Witchery to them with my grosgrain ribbon and try to get a little funkier look going. "Funky look" to be defined later.

4. Painting!! I am hoping to delegate much of this task to the husband (I don't think he knows that yet though). Silvery Moon by Benjamin Moore on all 4 walls. The inside of the closet may get a different color but that is still TBD.

5. Yay! Another to do that doesn't require me to actually DO anything. Yes, I couldn't get over my obsession with crazy Etsy crocheted squids. So I contacted the artist and had one made in some "just right" colors for our nursery (which is mostly yellow, gray & white but I figured I should throw some pretty blue in there at some point!). This fun little guy is due to arrive on my doorstep this weekend. I think I'll perch him on the changing table for now.

6. I've decided to make the bumper for Baby's crib. Partly because I can't find one that I really like (the one pictured above was an organic, quilted bumper from Pottery Barn Kids which...shocker...is no longer available) and partly because I'm insane and just like to create new projects for myself. I picked up some cream colored, organic quilted fabric, batting, cushions and yellow bias tape for piping and ties at Hancock Fabrics. Now I just have to get down to business with the cutting and sewing!

7. This one is a long shot but the Jonathan Adler giraffe sconces that I fell for waaaaay back when *may* come in this weekend. I'm not going to hold my breath though. They've been back-ordered since April and I had all but given up on them until I heard from Misomod this week that the manufacturer has finally started shipping them again. Once they're in, I have to find myself an electrician to hard wire them. But I just want them physically in my house at this point!

Other stuff left to tackle (though not this weekend):

--purchase ClosetMaid organization system for closet, install & organize closet
--purchase IKEA 1x5 Expedit bookshelf for window seat
--purchase more wooden hangers for Baby's growing wardrobe
--purchase area rug (still haven't decided which!)
--figure out best way to organize items in changing table
--test black, tapered drum lampshade for lamp behind glider (when it arrives)
--make cushion top for Expedit window seat
--finish contact paper lining dresser/changing table drawers
--decide if I want a crib skirt (could be nice to use under crib as storage?)
--decide what I'm going to do about a mobile

I bet if I sat here I could come up with 15 more things but I will stop for now. Let's just hope I can get through my weekend projects. We'll be at the 2nd half of our Birth & Labor class for all of Saturday morning so I'm already working on a condensed schedule! I love seeing it all come together though.
