Quiet Group Meet...

Today was meant to be a group meeting with the Devon HE group at Decoy Park.  Sadly due to illness and weather conditions (showers were forecast), many families couldn't make it.  I popped along though 'just in case' as it's only a 10 minute drive from home, I didn't like the thought of people turning up and having no one there to greet them - particularly when I had been contacted by someone who wished to come along to the group for the first time.

I'm so glad we made the effort.  We had a lovely time with 2 other families - so 8 children in all.  Lots of chatter, play, and friendships being cemented, we are very lucky to have such lovely people attending our groups :)

We had been there for only a short time and one of the park rangers approached us.  "Are you home-educators?" he asked.  I was a little apprehensive as to what our yes reply would lead to, but was wonderfully surprised when he went on to explain that he had some apples he was going to press and he wondered if the children would be interested in watching.  An hour or so later, we were gathered around the apple press with the children joining in the process :)

We came away with a bottle of freshly squeezed apple juice each and lots of knowledge - I love totally unexpected opportunities like that :)
