Chevron Ginger Jars

I recently discovered these super stylish ginger jars in a bold chevron pattern. These Mexican creations are hand painted by Talavera Vasquez in the city of Dolores Hidalgo. Two artists throw all of these clay pieces and twelve more are responsible for painting them. Talk about true works of art right? They aren't cheap but they sure are statement pieces.

Nice but pricey for an item that is simply decorative right? Not to worry! They also make lamps out of these beautiful bases.

This black one is SOOOOO fantastic. And pretty substantial too at 18" high. $235

For something slightly different and a little smaller, I also like this red stripey number. He's 13" tall and $135.

I'd never considered turning a ginger jar into a lamp but I suppose with the right drill bit and a lamp kit I'd be well on my way. I find them occasionally at Home Goods but never any this stylish.

Have you ever undertaken the whole "make a lamp" task? Is it really as easy as Nate keeps telling me it is?
