OH
MY
GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't even deal with how excited I am over a damn couch. But in my defense, I have been on the hunt for a vintage chesterfield for YEARS! Sunday afternoon, I was happily enjoying my post-Mother's Day brunch food coma when I hit up Craig's List with my standard searches when I saw this:

Say what?!? TWO chesterfields? These things never show up on my local CL so to see 2 in one ad was a little shocking. I contacted the seller and learned that while the reproduction had a cigarette burn in the cushion, the authentic antique did not. Less than 24 hours later I was sitting in their living room staring at the most perfectly worn, soft and supple leather chesterfield I could imagine.
It was really too perfect. The sellers were a lovely British couple who had purchased the antique chesterfield shortly after they were married 20 years ago. Shortly after their wedding, they moved from England to North Carolina and the couch lived in the corner of their bedroom. They were moving back to England to be closer to their aging parents and didn't want to ship the chesterfields across the pond yet again.
So now it's come to live with me for at least another 20 years. I have never sat on a more comfortable, all-enveloping couch. And the gorgeous tufting and nail head details don't hurt either!

It could certainly benefit from a professional cleaning and a bit of leather conditioning. In the future, I might consider ditching the 3 cushions in exchange for 1 long, loosely tufted cushion. But I worry about matching the leather and the comfort of the original horsehair stuffing (yes horsehair...sounds gross I know but you get over it really quickly when you sit on it!)
$600 for a vintage leather chesterfield - yea...I'll take that!

That's another thing knocked off my CL stalking list!! And I believe it's the first item in what will eventually be Mr. H+F's "Man Mountain" (it's on the second floor of our house and gets more light than any room so calling it a "man cave" doesn't feel right).
