Settling the Mind
The retreat consisted of teachings, meditation sessions and periods of discussion. It was mainly about "setting the mind in its natural state", being mindful of "the space of the mind and all mental phenomena that arise from moment to moment, observing them without distraction and without grasping." As a result, obsessive thoughts subside and we attain a sense of well being and peacefulness.

Nottingham Photos
We're back after 5 days of teachings by the Dalai Lama at Nottingham Arena. Here's some photos...
"If there is love, there is hope to have real families, real brotherhood, real equanimity, real peace. If the love within your mind is lost, if you continue to see other beings as enemies, then no matter how much knowledge or education you have, no matter how much material progress is made, only suffering and confusion will ensue." - Dalai Lama

Dalai Lama in the UK
"The purpose of our lives is to be happy."
We're off again! DJ is going to Stroud and I'm off to Nottingham tomorrow, where the Dalai Lama will be talking about the nature of reality and how to bring meaning to our lives.

We're off!
We're off to Alvor - see you all in a couple of weeks!
“The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach - waiting for a gift from the sea.” - Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Easter Weekend
Easter weekend was great, as usual. DJ went to Stroud; for him it was all about connecting with his dad - and eating chocolate, of course!
I was fortunate enough to attend Rizong Rinpoche's teachings on Atisha's "Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment" at Lamrim Bristol.
"Friends, the things you desire give no more satisfaction than drinking sea water, therefore practice contentment." - Atisha (982-1054 CE)

We're back!
after almost a month with the Tibetan Refugee community in South India...
"I consider education to be an instrument. Whether that instrument is used rightly or wrongly depends on our basic human motivation, on the spirituality that informs our motives. When I say spirituality, it is not a religious thing. It means simply to become warmhearted human beings, with a deeper awareness of the world at large." H.H. Dalai Lama
