The ULTIMATE LEGO Room

My friend Heather recently undertook the painstaking task of sorting and organizing her kid's LEGO collection. Painstaking because between the 3 of them, there are some 100,000 pieces of LEGOS! Clearly Heather is raising a group of mechanical engineers to-be over there!

The kids love their LEGOS and play with them almost every day. They love to create some real masterpieces but with so many specialty pieces involved, it became virtually impossible to ever re-create their projects once all the pieces became jumbled.

With the help of a whole lotta IKEA Trofast systems and the patience of Mother Theresa, Heather has created the LEGO room to end all LEGO rooms!

Check out this project table! I love the creativity and brain power that must go on at this table.

The surface of the Trofast does double duty as a display for the kids' creations.

And some wall shelves show-off a few of the most impressive pieces.

Heather has dedicated one entire bin to LEGO instruction sheets but I love that she's also framed a few for some very LEGO-room appropriate art!

And I'm sure you're all wondering the same thing I was...how the heck do you get the kids to maintain such a system? Of course this mom has a plan for that! One bin is a dedicated "to be sorted" bin. Every week the kids will rotate through the chore of sorting those pieces before another LEGO extravaganza week begins. I love that this system facilitates easy clean-up and mega organization to what could definitely be a disaster area. Well done Heather!!!
