If you're a design blog junkie like me, chances are you've seen your fair share of awesome DIY projects. You guys are out there making everything from ottomans out of coffee tables to Crate & Barrel Colette bed knock-offs. It's seriously nothing short of incredible. But this DIY zebra print rug made from 2 totally non-interesting rugs is definitely the most impressive thing I've seen in a long time. I'm not talking about stenciling or painting a rug here (though that can be equally fabulous as evidenced by Miggy's nursery rug).
No, I'm talking about LITERALLY cutting and piecing together a brand new rug like Mandi from Vintage Revivals just did.
She started with these...
...drew out her design on the back...
...and cut out those pieces (this would for sure be when Mr. H+F would walk in on me in freak out mode!)
She then cut out the remaining pieces (the gray part of the rug) and used some crazy, specialty carpet tape to piece it all back together.
The back is not so cute (but who cares?!)
...because the front is ridiculously spectacular.
Can you even believe this? I love how she used a rug with a higher pile for the white parts of the print. It gives the finished product an almost tufted-like appearance. You HAVE to check out the full post here.
