NYC Skateboarding In The 60s

Did you know that between 1960 and 1963 a whopping 50 million skateboards were sold in the US? It was such a popular sport that it finally landed on the cover page of Life Magazine on May 14th, 1965. Today, I’ve been browsing through those vintage NYC skateboarding photographs and they put a huge smile on my face. There is something incredibly timeless and endearing about simple fun with friends on skateboards, isn’t there?

Btw: As a child I had one with neon green wheels. I was totally uncoordinated but I loved riding it:) How about you? Did you have a skateboard? How awesome are those photos? xo
