Fancy having a movie night under the stars this summer? Well, the super-duper Brooklyn Bridge Park movie nights are back from July starting with E.T. - classic! It's a perfect time to dig out your picnic blankets, cool off your wine, grab some snacks and get mingling with the other movie buffs. And that Manhattanskyline – swoon! Coffee - For Your Eyes Only

I’m a total coffee nut and I always try to come up with excuses for myself when I drink too much of it, just ask Balazs. What can I say, it’s just that irresistible in taste and the whole ritual makes for a better, smoother day. Anyway, last night I read a little German study that discovered that coffee not only helps women deal better in stressful situations, but also contributes to having healthy and beautiful eyes. You should have seen Balazs' face when I told him that this morning :) So ladies, drink it up. Cheers! Are you a coffee drinker? What’s your favourite type? The Little Things In Life

Here is a little thing I started to do lately: when I feel like my week is too busy or I haven't had much time to relax, I simply wake up a bit earlier in the morning and take a walk to my favourite flower shop. Yesterday was one of those mornings. I got up and took a breezy stroll around the sleepy city and came back home with a bunch of coral colour peonies that were just about to bloom. They are my favourite! Le sigh - the little things in life...

Lovelies, what are your favourite flowers? Btw: What peonies colour do you fancy the most: pink, rose, purple, scarlet, white, yellow, coral, cream or crimson?

P.S. Here is a fun fact: according to feng shui, putting fresh peonies in your home will help bring love to your life. (Great gift idea to all the single friends). Sweet isn’t it?

Travel Fantasy: Cinque Terre

With the weather being super lovely lately I've been daydreaming about sand covered feet, the smell of sunscreen, refreshing morning swims, summer freckles and long lazy days on the beach. Those photos of the ever beautiful Italian spot, Cinque Terre make me want to hop on a plane right about now. Le sigh!

Modern Day Robinson Crusoe

Ever dreamed of swapping your life for something totally different? Well, in 1962 a British journalist, Brendon Grimshaw has done just that. He bought a tiny little island in the Seychelles called Moyenne, where he created a life for himself. Today, Brendon is 86 years old and still enjoying his Robinson Crusoe lifestyle of freedom and amazing views. He wakes up each morning to 109 giant tortoises, 2000 beautiful birds and 16 000 trees that he planted over the years with the help of locals. In 2009 he was approached to create a documentaryabout his life and the island that he loves so much after investors wanted to buy it for development. Here is the trailer:

Blooming Hallways

Several years ago, Anna Schuleit created an installation of 28000 potted flowers in the Massachusetts Mental Health Center just a week before the facility closed its doors after 91 years of operation. She chose flowers in bloom as psychiatric patients do not receive flowers often during their hospital stay. It's her interpretation of offering and transition. What I love about this project is that she filled the whole building that generally gives the feel of sadness, pain and loneliness with tons of beautiful, lively and happy flowers. A great contrast, don’t you think? For some strange reason I can't stop looking at those images - very reflective. xo

Oh sweets, it's Friday! Somehow this week flew by for me, how was it for you? Balazs and I don't have anything special planned besides tomorrow’s supermoon picnic watch that I mentioned this morning. Supermoon Saturday

Crikey, fancy experiencing something out of this world beautiful this weekend? Well, tomorrow on May 5^th there will be an extraordinary event of supermoon occurrence. It’s a phenomenon that doesn’t happen often and it occurs when a full moon is at its perigee - its closest point to the Earth on its elliptical patch. Tomorrow, exactly at 11:35pm ET the moon will reach that special peak point and then we can see it all big, bright and even more breathtaking!

So if you have a chance - grab a blanket, some chilled wine, your favourite cheese and enjoy the evening under the stars and the glowing moon.  I know, I will! See you there:)

Have a dazzling weekend!

Darlings, my mom is in town for a few days so we are starting the weekend a dash earlier. Tonight we are off for a night boat tour under the city lights (and blankets if it gets coldish). Besides that I can't wait to have late night chats on the balcony, long walks on the island and we’re also planning to pop-by a few of her favourite places around here. Fridge Makeover: Photo magnets

Our apartment has a plain old white fridge. So, to jazz it up a bit, I made some Pinhole Press photo magnets. I used snapshots of Toby, as well as some photos I found online of my favorite old-school celebs (including Mick Jagger, obviously). Our gallery display makes our whole kitchen feel so much cozier, and Toby loves pointing himself out. For Mother's Day, I'm going to send my mom a package of Toby magnets:)

Moody Walks

Here is a little something that you might not know about me: I find gloomy and rainy days incredibly romantic and utterly calming. I don’t know if it’s the overall quieter vibe of the city or the fact that every time we’ve been to Paris, it was raining: but as soon as the skies get all grey and gloomy, I start daydreaming about Paris. Strolling in the dark with the charming street lights guiding the way, soft jazz music playing in the little passing alleys and trench coats that even look super snazzy wet.

No Screw Loose

Crikey, Californiabased Andrew Myers is a modern-day sculptor with an incredible talent. He spends countless hours creating portraits of people from screws. It’s a multi-step process involving a plywood panel as the base, pre-sketch, pre-drilling up to 10 000 holes by hand and the most challenging part, painting over each screw head in a way that the end result is an actual portrait of a person he knows. The brilliant thing is that he doesn’t use any type of computer software to guide him. He simply approaches his type of art with the traditional sculpturing technique.

This is what he said about the people he chooses for his projects: "Most people are drawn to the portraits because they have something different about them (from a distance especially). Seeing them in person is a whole different feel than seeing the photograph. They have a sense of depth that the photo can't capture."

As for me, Andrew is a genius and those sculptures are mind-blowing. Oh boy, wish I could see them in person. Don’t you? Aren’t they captivating? xo

A few years ago, for New York Magazine, I interviewed kids about having lemonade stands in New York City. They were so hilarious and crafty! Their tricks to increase sales included purposefully misspelling "lemonade" on their signs and telling people's fortunes. One brother-sister team made $240! Read the story here, if you'd like.
And these photos by photographer Joanna Ebenstein made me laugh. She passed two boys in Park Slope, Brooklyn, selling bacon panini, of all things! And at $3 a pop. Haha, only in NYC.

Grey Vienna and a glimpse of color.

Good evening everyone!

Ah, it has been a very, very grey and rainy Sunday here in Vienna, but that didn't stop me from going out and having some nice time. I have been accompanied by my little cousin Ida, but she didn't want me to upload here any pictures of her, so unfortunately you won't get to see her. Maybe some other time.

We took a five hours long walk through the old part of the city which I enjoy every time like it's the first one. I know every little corner, street, and almost every building that there is, since I spent so many hours exploring it. And for me, it's impossible to EVER get tired of it, because I always find something new, and special. It's just so easy to get lost in those small streets, to forget about everything... For me at least. It's like diving into another world...

I must admit I felt really amazing in that fuchsia coat, while all other people were running around in their brown and black ones. I just felt like I've brighten up the day a little. Well, whatever. :D
