Along the beautiful Danube...

Yesterday was such a surprising day... I actually had no plans for it, except studying, but then my beloved friend Marija called me, and brought so many little miracles full of joy to me. I didn't see her for a few weeks, and since she's going through some though time in her life, right now, I was pretty glad I could be there for her.

Anyway, she took me to the part of the city where I'm not that often or almost never, and that's the one at the other side of the Danube river. It's called the 22nd district, and it's completely different from the  old part of the city, since it's marked by skyscrapers and modern architecture. In the end, I was so happy we went there, since it brought me some kind of peace and calm that I didn't feel in ages. It was a very lovely afternoon.

I also shot a few pictures of her, since she wanted to have some better looking photos of herself, and isn't she lovely? I'm absolutely in love with her hair!

I really cannot wait to go back there again... Maybe in summer... We'll see.
Oh, and yesterday in Belgrade Serbia's song for the Eurovision contest was presented. It was composed by one of our biggest pop compositors, and I really like it. I still think that it cannot beat "Lane moje", but we only can wait and see how far it will get when the time comes. Oh, and I've put the translation underneath the video. What do you think? Do you follow EVSC? And do you already have your favorites?

Love isn't a thing

Better luck next time
you say it so easily to me
I see our relationship isn't succeeding
but it could have been worse
and even if you leave, something of yours, know
will remain here...

Love isn't a thing
I can give back to you
look, it's only me
I've always loved you
love isn't a thing
which I've no idea what to do with
I wish you all the best
this love is just my
shipwreck...

Your love isn't a thing
I can give back to you
look, it's only me
I've always loved you
my love isn't a thing
which I've no idea what to do with
I wish you all the best
it's my shipwreck...

Go, just, just go over there
fly, sing, give your heart to someone else
but know that goodbye doesn't mean it's over
my love isn't a thing
which I've no idea what to do with
I wish you all the best
this love is just my
shipwreck...

Which of the Beatles would you kiss?

A timeless quandary. I'm a John kind of girl, although I really love this song by George.

I was here.

Probably you all have already noticed, because it's spread all over the net - the new video of BeyoncĂ©'s live performance of the song "I Was Here". As usually, I got notice of it way too late, and that is also why I'm writing about it just now.

Although I am not a fan of hers at all, I have to admit that this song has really touched me. Throughout her whole career I never had a song that I really liked, she simple never appealed to me. There were also times where I found her very annoying and couldn't stand her, but for this song, this very song, she's getting some standing ovations from me.

Firstly started from the lyrics... I think the whole message is very beautiful. None of us wants to be forgotten, and it's really painful when you realize that one day it's gonna be like that, unless you write some awesome history. But we are here to enjoy our days to the fullest. And appreciate it. :)

The video is very well done, with all those sequences of her life, starting from when she was very, very little, all the way to today's successes. It gives that drama and emotional feeling. I really like it.

I hope you will enjoy it the same!

Happy Friday,
Aleksandra.

Storytime.

So, the release of Nightwish's new single "Storytime" is already out (in some countries). I've listened to the song, actually a few times, but the be honest, I'm a little disappointed. Maybe there will other songs which will be better, but "Storytime" honestly didn't overwhelm me. Here is it:

It actually isn't bad, but I think that repeating melody, somewhere around the refrain, is simply annoying. I think it all is a little "empty". But I ordered the new album anyway, so we'll see. :/

Love, Aleksandra.

Music Friday loves!

Hellou there!
Finally Friday! This week passed by SO fast for me, and I simply cannot believe it's friday already! :) I'm waiting for my lecture right now, and listening to some dark piano music, and I thought it would be nice to share it with you.. :) Hope you'll enjoy it! :)

I've noticed that not many people know Proyecto Oniric, what I think is very bad! He is such an amazing pianist, and I really love to listen to his music... I discovered him I think about five years ago when I still had Myspace, and I've fallen in love with the melodies he creates immediately. The first one you see above is a new "song" (can you call this melodies "songs"?) from the the new album with the same name which will come out in November. I so cannot wait! And now I'll let you enjoy it, and see you soon!

Music news!

I enjoy a very wide spectrum of music. From Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, all the way to Marilyn Manson and Rammstein.

Firstly, I wanted to show you the preview of the making of of the new Nightwish's album Imagenaerum, which will come out in November. My patience is pretty at the end when it comes to this album, because it's something new to release an album following by a movie, which is actually a PART of the album. Really curious how this will turn out. So, here goes the preview:

Amazing, right? But no matter how hard I try, I really cannot stop imagining Tarja in this project. I know that six damn years have passed since they've split, but I still enjoy her voice more in this band than Anette's. And Anette is not bad, she has her own style, but I still mourn over the split. Unfortunately.

Tarja has also released some big news. I don't know if you've heard, but she founded another band beside her solo career, and it's called TARJA TURUNEN & HARUS. Here's what the official statement says:

"There is an old Finnish tradition when it comes to newborns – the baby is not to be named until the baptism ceremony, when he or she is presented to the family with the chosen name.
A few years ago, in 2006, a new project from Tarja was born and, following the same tradition, the time has come to baptize it, to make the presentations to the family and to give it a name – HARUS.
HARUS is a rather peculiar, uncommon Finnish word that describes the four tensors that keep a tent together or the tensor that keeps the mast from falling in a sailing boat.
Both of the meanings apply to this musicians line up: four members, four equals, four different backgrounds to tie together exquisite classical music developed strongly and in a very stable way, with a taste of experimental, modern feel.
The ever-changing waters HARUS sails on promise a unique feeling and combination for each program.
HARUS are:
Tarja Turunen : Vocals
Kalevi Kiviniemi : Organ
Marzi Nyman: Guitar
Markku Krohn: Percussion
Let’s give HARUS a warm welcome and expect further news very soon!"

I'm really dying to hear what they will sound like!

And then, one more thing which has been awaited for a pretty long time. New Evanescence album. It's simply called Evanescence, and the sound is completely new and pretty strong. I'm listening to it just now, and I actually cannot say exactly how I feel about it because I still didn't give it a deeper thought, but I like it so far. :) Well, it's not gonna be a failure for sure.

The newest video for the "What You Want" song:

And a little description on the album by the band:

I also have to say that I really like the new visual style, and the logo (click here to see what I mean :P). They stayed true to their old style, but also brought some freshness to the whole picture. I like! :)

Have a nice start in the weekend! And enjoy some new music! :))

I'll listen to her again!

Today has been a very nice and calm day for me, since I didn't have to go to the college. We have A LOT of rain here, which I enjoy to the fullest! I've missed rain and cold and grey clouds for so so long! It may sound weird but I really really like this weather. And now I cannot wait for winter and snow.

Anyway, I picked up my Tarja Turunen concert ticket today. I bought it a few weeks ago, and now I was finally able to pick it up. Can't wait for this either! :)

Maybe I'll see some of you there! :)

Someone like you.

Probably the whole internet is already buzzing about it, but I just have to talk a little about it myself. It's about new video by Adele, performing the "Someone like you" song. Firstly, I need to mention, that loved Adele ever since her myspace era, and that I'm also a little bit disappointed when people come to me now and say: "Oh my Gooood, you're listening to her too!!!!" - and then I think: "I'm listening to her since nobody knew her!" Urgh. =.=

Anyhow, as I've read somewhere, the video has been filmed in the very early morning hours in Paris. I really like the way how it turned out, simple and very beautiful. Here, see it yourself:

Have a nice Friday!

While bossom is still untouched...

I just wanted to share a wonderful song with you... I have been in love with Nightwish for years (you already know that, if you followed my old blog), and this song belongs to the top 10 of my all time faves... I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Love, Aleksandra.

Arcade Fire w/ Local Natives

This weekend we got the chance to see Arcade Fire play a concert in Broomfield, CO. They were promoting the album The Suburbs and enjoying the post Grammy win. While the venue was one of the most difficult and stupidly set up I've ever been to, their concert was incredible. I danced, cried, sang, screamed, jumped and got home completely exhausted!

Arcade Fire is, by far, my favorite band in the entire world. I first saw them live in 2005 at the Lollapalooza in Chicago. Since then, I've been to another 4 concerts and last night was the fifth time I've seen them live. I like to complex the band is, that all their albums are themed and that they follow that theme to the extreme.; that they have strong social beliefs and that they are true performers.

Here are a few pictures and videos from the concert! Hope you enjoy it!

You can check out gorgeous photos from the concert at the Westword website {click here}

Olympia

I haven't added any new music to my iPod in a while but I think I will definitely be buying Olympia by Bryan Ferry today.  If there is one musician who is the epitome of chic, it's Bryan Ferry.  Almost all of the albums for his group Roxy Music had gorgeous women on the cover, most of whom he dated, and he continues the tradition on this solo album, minus the dating part.  Kate Moss was photographed by Adam Whitehead but Mr. Ferry helped style her and even personally chose the jewels.  It is an homage to Manet's Olympia and you can watch the behind the scenes video on Bryan Ferry's website.  There is also a great interview with him in the November issue of UK Harper's Bazaar which mentions that Tom Ford called Bryan Ferry "the ultimate style icon."  I will also have to say that Olympia looks pretty iconic too.

Reviewing Home Ed: The Badman Song

From ThePhantomCorrector's channel:

"The rights of Home Educators in England are under threat from our government who have appointed Graham Badman to conduct a review that's only real purpose is to spread their totalitarian web of control to Home Educators. This song is to show Graham Badman that I know EXACTLY what he's up to. Oh, and it's also so that other people he annoyed are brought some comic relief.

Hey Badman leave us kids alone.

All in all you’re just another brick in the wall
